So assume that there will be practice as scheduled tomorrow. We will let you know if that changes.

We would like to encourage all swimmers in the Green, White, Bronze, and Silver groups to participate, but you MUST sign up online in advance, no later than October 3 at 9 pm. (5/3) Thank you and best wishes to Bryan Bateman on his retirement from coaching.
Click here to see the video played at the banquet Sunday. Thanks to Tom O'Toole for creating this wonderful tribute!
Hornet Swim Club is pleased to announce that Mirko Mirkov will assume the role of Head Coach effective March 27. Coach Bay Bateman, at her request, will return to a role of Assistant Coach. This is consistent with the plan developed more than a year ago which led to Coach Mirko being hired as the Assistant Head Coach. Coach Bryan Bateman Sr. has decided to retire from coaching, which has always been a sideline to his full-time “day job” and to his passion for raising koi and judging koi shows. Coach Erin Trier is planning to move later this month with her husband to Melbourne, Australia, where he was temporarily transferred. We thank Bryan and Erin for their dedicated and caring service to our club over the past several years. We also thank Coach Bay for her tireless and dedicated service to Hornet Swim Club in her 15 months as Head Coach, during which she performed the role of both coach and administrator/manager with skill and grace. Please join us in congratulating Coach Mirko and Coach Bay on their new roles at Hornet Swim Club, and in wishing Coach Bryan, Sr. the best in his retirement from coaching and bon voyage to Coach Erin as she begins her unique opportunity to live "down under"!
We would like to welcome the new incoming board members:
Co-President: Mardie Leader
Secretary: Pete Stukas
ISI Registrar: Jill Quinones
Member at Large: Molly Bowater
We would also like to thank the following outgoing board members - Mardie Leader, Cathy Relias and Molly Bowater for their hours of time and dedication to our club, and to Mardie and Molly for dedicating more time to the Hornets. And to Susan Portland who will be moving into the role of Past President. Words cannot express our gratitude for your leadership these past two years.

I'VE COME TO HELP
"I am only one, but I am still one; I cannot do everything, but still
I can do something, and because I cannot do everything I will not
refuse to do the something that I can do."
--Nineteenth century writer Edward Everett Hale said that.
Every volunteered minute is an important one and contributes to the success of our Club.
Another reminder that swimmers are to talk to coaches before and after their races only. They are not to sit with or hang out with the coaches. This is very distracting and prevents them from doing their job. This also applies during practice. The coaches have many swimmers to coach and do not have time to chit chat on deck. Please remind your swimmers.
A friendly reminder to all parents that swimmers should be ON TIME for practice. It's very difficult for the coaches to get everyone warmed up and started on time, when swimmers are straggling in every few minutes. The warmup is a very important part of practice to avoid injury and each swimmer should be able to do the full warmup, and not just the last 2 minutes because they are late.

Board Meetings
The Hornet Swim Club is a parent run organization. We hold Board Meetings the third Wednesday of every month at 6:30 in room 180. All parents are invited and encouraged to attend. If you have any concerns, questions or comments, please email info@hornetswimclub.org no later than 48 hours before the meeting so that it can be added to the agenda and discussed. Feedback is always welcome as we try to make our club better and better for the sake of our swimmers. Please keep in mind that agenda items need to be discussed first. If there is time, the floor can be opened for discussion, so if there is something important you want to talk about, make it an agenda item. Also, if you are a committee chairperson, you should plan on attending to give an update to the Board regarding your committee. |
